Roads


Over Road Transportation arteries through North Webster Parish are US Highway 371 which runs the entire north/south length of the parish. The highway is on the Federal Aid Secondary program (FAS, 50ft. ROW with 24 ft. paved surface) and is well maintained for the commercial traffic between the I-20 inter-exchange at Dixie Inn, Louisiana and the industries in North Webster Parish.

Interstate Highway 20, journeys through the central part of the Parish providing transportation to the Mississippi River via the river at Vicksburg, Mississippi as well as the east or west coasts of the United States. In addition, U.S. Highway 80 parallels the Interstate and U.S. 79 cuts a diagonal through the parish heading in a northeast and southwest orientation. The main arteries plus State Highways 3008, 531 and 159 in conjunction with a myriad of parish roads, provide ease of access to the area for products and raw materials.
 



Railroads


 

Over Rail Transportation to North Webster Parish is provided by WATCO Railroad. The WATCO tracks run north through Heflin, Minden, Cotton Valley, Sarepta and Springhill. WATCO provides to Kansas Southern Railroad, a national rail line, handling a significant volume of containers, TOFC and carload traffic between Louisiana and most of mid-America.

 

 

 

Airports


Air Travel for North Webster Parish is directly served by the local Springhill Airport located approximately 3 miles southeast of the town limits. The runway is 4,000 feet in length with an asphalt surface and is able to serve small to mid-size aircraft.
Just a short drive south you will find the Minden Airport, with a 5,000 foot paved, lighted runway, with accommodations for business jets. The runway is lighted for night flying, fuel, storage and maintenance are available on premises, and automobile rental is offered by local area.

National and International air travel is provide at the Shreveport Regional Airport serving Northwest Louisiana with more than 20 national airlines. The regional airport is located approximately 30 miles West of Minden and accessible via Interstate Highway 20. The major commercial carriers include American, Continental, Delta, and others of mid-size range and access. The airport infrastructure in includes a prime 8,350 feet long, 200 feet wide runway, grooved with category II lighting. The facility is equipped with major repair, aircraft fuel, and storage facilities. Automobile rental is offered by national agencies.
